Canine Unit: A Source of

Community Pride

The Ramsey County Sheriff Canine Unit is one of the highest-ranked and most respected police canine units in the country. The unit was formed in 1980 and since grown to 11 deputies.

Our Canine Unit was responsible for 127 felony arrests in 2006 and takes great pride in having located more than 17 missing persons.

The Canine Unit performs at more than 70 community events and schools annually. These demonstrations show off the training and search skills of these amazing animals and bring public awareness to the importance and dedicated service provided by the Ramsey County Sheriff Canine Unit.
