Meet Our K-9s

Lisa Daly and Phoenix
Deputy Lisa Daly has been with
the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department for 16 years. She has
worked in both the Detention and Courts Divisions, and has been
in the Patrol Division for the last six years. Deputy Daly has
been a member of the Ramsey County K-9 Unit since 2005. Her K-9
partner Phoenix is a five-year old German Shepard acquired from
the My Bodyguard Dog Kennel in Illinois.
Deputy Daly
and K-9 Phoenix attended the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department
thirteen-week Patrol Dog School to prepare both handler and dog
for working the streets. K-9 Phoenix is also certified as a
narcotics detector dog and is frequently requested by the
Minnesota Gang Strike Force, Narcotics Unit, and other officer’s
to assist them in the search of vehicles and homes. Deputy Daly
and K9 Phoenix were members of the 2007 USSPC National
Championship Team.
When Deputy
Daly and K-9 Phoenix are not working or training they enjoy
jogging together and playing with the other two family dogs,
Sandy an eleven-year old Yellow Lab, and LuLu a fifteen year old
Beagle.
Deputy Daly
also enjoys bicycling, weight training, reading, and spending
time with her husband at their cabin in Wisconsin.

Christian Moe and Jett
Chris has worked
for the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office for eleven years. He
became a K-9 handler in February 2004 and graduated from K-9
school in June 2004 with his partner Jett. Prior assignments
include the Patrol and Detention Divisions. Jett is a two-year
old purebred German Shepherd imported from Germany.

Steve Olson and Gauner
Steve became a Deputy Sheriff in
April, 1993 and a K-9 handler in February of 2004. Previous
assignments include Water Patrol, Patrol Division, Court
Security and Detention. Steve is also a SCUBA Diver on the
Sheriff's Dive Team.
Gauner is a purebred German
Shepherd born in Germany on November 25, 2002. He loves to play
with kids an his favorite toy is his frisbee.

Gary Pearl and Gus
Deputy Gary
Pearl started his career with the Department in 1993 working in
the Detention and Courts divisions. He was assigned to the
Patrol Division in 2000. His assignments have included contract
city patrol, water patrol, and countywide K-9 patrol. He was
assigned to the K-9 unit in 2001 and is currently one of the K-9
Unit Trainers.
K-9 Gus is
his second canine. He was imported from Europe and has been with
the Department since 2005. K-9 Gus is a two time USPCA
Nationally Certified Police Dog and was a member of the 2007
USPCA National Championship K-9 Team. K-9 Gus has received
numerous USPCA awards for both patrol and trial work. He is
also trained in narcotics detection.
Deputy
Pearl’s first K-9 Max was retired in 2004. He is eleven years
old and lives with Deputy Pearl and his family.
